Privacy notice

Who we are

Afrika Biz Investments Limited is a company registered in England and Wales, company number 09535632, with its registered office at 71 to 75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. Afrika Biz Investments is also registered in Uganda. In this notice, "we" and "A.B.I." mean that company. We are the data controller for the personal information described here.

What we collect, and why

We only collect information you choose to send us. There is no tracking on this website, no advertising, and no third-party analytics.

When you send us a message

The contact form asks for your name, your email address, your organisation if you give one, the topic you have chosen, and your message. We need these to read your message and reply to it.

When you apply for a role

The careers form asks for your name, your email address, the kind of role you are interested in, a short introduction, and, if you attach one, your CV. We need these to consider your application. A CV often contains more detail than the form asks for, including your work history and education. Please send only what you are comfortable for us to hold.

Technical information

When a form is submitted, our server records the IP address the submission came from and the date and time. We use this only to detect and block automated abuse of the forms. We do not use it to identify you or to build any profile of you.

Our lawful basis

Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR we rely on our legitimate interests: answering enquiries sent to us, assessing applications for roles, and protecting our systems from abuse. You can object to this at any time, and we will stop unless we have a compelling reason not to, which for an ordinary enquiry we will not.

Where the Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019 of Uganda applies, we rely on the equivalent grounds of performing a request made by you and our legitimate interest in running the business.

Where your information is held

Submissions are stored using Cloudflare Workers KV, a service operated by Cloudflare, Inc. Cloudflare hosts this website and stores form submissions on our behalf as our processor. Cloudflare operates a global network and data may be processed in the United Kingdom, the European Union, the United States or elsewhere. Transfers outside the UK and the EU are covered by the standard contractual clauses in Cloudflare's data processing agreement.

If you ask us to email you, that message will pass through our email provider.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for two years from the date you send them, so we can pick up a conversation where it left off. We keep job applications for one year from the date you apply, unless you ask us to remove them sooner or you join us. After that they are deleted.

Who sees it

Your information is read by the people at A.B.I. who need to see it in order to answer you or to consider your application. We do not sell it. We do not share it with anyone for marketing. We share it outside A.B.I. only where we are required to by law.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted, to object to what we are doing with it, and to ask us to restrict what we do with it. You can also ask for it in a portable form.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office in the United Kingdom at ico.org.uk, to your national supervisory authority in the European Union, or to the Personal Data Protection Office in Uganda.

Children

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change this notice we will change the date at the top of this page.
